Versal

Your client’s file stays your client’s file.

Discovery is full of sensitive information: about your client, witnesses and officers, down to medical records and the contents of phones. Versal is built to keep it confidential, and to be plain with you about how.

How your discovery is protected.

Questions lawyers ask us.

Is my discovery used to train AI models?

No. The AI runs on Amazon Web Services (AWS), the same secure cloud that holds your files. Your case material is never used to train AI models and is never passed to the companies that build them.

AWS’s checks for misuse of its AI services are automated. If a check flags a request, AWS may keep that request for up to 30 days, for that purpose only, and it isn’t used for anything else. Your client’s information stays private.

Can anyone at Versal see my case files?

Not without your permission. Versal staff can open your case material only when you’ve asked us for support and said we may look, and then only as far as we need to help you.

Does uploading discovery to Versal waive privilege or work product?

Putting material into Versal is not intended to waive attorney-client privilege, work-product protection, or any other protection that applies to it. We hold it on your behalf and on your instructions, the way any vendor that stores client files does.

Who in my firm can see a case?

Only the people in your firm you add to that case. If you remove someone, they lose access immediately.

Where is my data stored?

In Amazon Web Services (AWS) data centers in the United States. AWS is the cloud provider many banks, hospitals and government agencies rely on. Your files are encrypted while they upload and while they’re stored, and they are never made public.

Can I delete a case when it’s over?

Yes, yourself, at any time. A deleted case is removed from Versal right away. Backup copies expire within seven days, and after that it’s gone entirely. You can also close your whole account whenever you like.

My case is under a protective order. Can I still use Versal?

That depends on what the order requires, and the decision is yours. If it sets specific conditions for storage or access, book a demo or write to us and we’ll tell you plainly how Versal handles each one.

The Privacy Policy and Terms of Use are the binding versions of everything on this page.
